The Wladimir Klitschko/Mariusz Wach heavyweight championship fight negotiations are shaky at best, as of now. Wach has yet to sign the contract because of a contract clause that would obligate Wach to be promoted by Klitschko’s K2 Promotions for three other fights.
Mariusz Kolodziej of Global Boxing Promotions(Wach’s promoter), had this to say about the situation….
“By the end of this week, we’ll make a decision if we’ll agree to their terms, because for now these terms are damaging for Wach. If Mariusz defeats Klitschko, we will become slaves to the German company. He will have to fight three fights on their terms. We have other opportunities. We can make a fight with Bermane Stiverne of Canada, who is number two in the WBC rankings. In the event we win, we will be first in line to face Vitali Klitschko. There is no rush. If we don’t reach an agreement, a title shot won’t get away from us. Mariusz has time. There are initial arrangements, but let’s wait. If they don’t agree to our terms, we will make a fight with Stiverne or we can face Ray Austin in December. We will get Klitschko either way.”
If Wach becomes the number one contender of the WBC, that could take away K2 Promotions options on future fights with Wach and would force Vitaly Klitschko to defend his title with no contract clauses.
