SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO- World Boxing Organization (WBO) female junior flyweight champion Yesica “La Tuti” Bopp received today from some Puerto Rican world champions a diamonds ring in honor for her seven title defenses.
“We honored Yesica as a great champion with her seven succesfull defenses and for her community job in her country“, WBO President Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel said.
Bopp (21-0, 9 KOs) won the 108lb WBO title on November 6, 2009, with an unanimous decision over Ana Arrazola proceeding to defend her title seven times, with defenses in Puerto Rico and Mexico, where she beat Yesenia Martinez last Saturday, August 4, 2012.
Former world champions Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon, Alex “El Nene” Sanchez and Juan Manuel “Juanma” Lopez who have WBO diamond rings, gave the ring to an excited Bopp.
“I’m very happy to be here in Puerto Rico again and I want to thank the WBO for this ceremony and I’m very excited with all these champions here”, Bopp said.
Besides Calderón, Sanchez and Lopez there were other world champions like Roman “Rocky” Martinez, Wilfredo Vazquez Sr. and Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., world ranked Jonathan “Polvo” Oquendo, Luis Orlando “Orlandito” del Valle, Abner “Pin” Cotto, McWilliams Arroyo, David Quijano, Miguel “El Loco” Robles and prospects like McJoe Arroyo, Jonathan “Bomba” Gonzalez, Israel “El Heredero” Vazquez and John Karl Sosa.
Also in attendance were judges Cesar Ramos, Nelson Vazquez, Jose Roberto Torres, Carlos Colon, Raul Nieves and Hernando Steidel, and referees Jose H. Rivera, Roberto Ramirez Sr. and Roberto Ramirez Jr. WBO Executive Commitee members Luis Batista Salas, Luis Perez, Adolfo Flores Monge and Manuel Marrero Hueca.
